# Browse and evaluate

> Find listings in the catalog and judge them before you spend anything.

The catalog lists every live public listing. Each shows the vendor organization that published
it; the vendor never learns that you looked or bought. You evaluate a listing from what the vendor
approved for pre-purchase review, never from its raw files.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Search and filter the catalog">
    Open **Browse marketplace** on the **For sale** side. Choose an asset type from the icon bar
    (**Codebases**, **Tasks**, **Environments**, **Robotics**, or **Raw data**), search, and
    filter. Every type offers tags, price, trust (verified and seller tier), and sample filters.
    Each asset type adds its own: language, rare languages only (codebases at most 40%
    JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python combined), and lines of code for codebases, task count and price
    per task for tasks, capabilities for environments, format for robotics, and file types, file
    count, and size for raw data. With **All types** selected, **Assets per type** limits how many
    codebases, tasksets (HUD and Harbor together), environments, robotics datasets, or raw data
    bundles a listing includes: pick a type, then set its count. Price and the numeric filters are
    ranges: drag either end of the slider to set a minimum, a maximum, or both. Switching asset type
    clears the previous type's filters. Each
    row shows the asset kinds, scale, domain tags, vendor, buy-now price, and sample price when
    there is one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Shortlist what looks promising">
    Save listings to your organization's shortlist, then narrow the catalog to **Saved** while
    your team compares them. **Owned** shows listings you already bought.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the listing record">
    The record shows asset metadata, delivery details, pricing, domain tags, and quality
    certification. Repository and ZIP previews use redacted file trees: every file name is
    replaced with a placeholder such as `redacted-3.py` that keeps its extension, folder names
    are real unless the vendor chose to hide them, and contents stay protected until you buy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the evidence">
    The blue verified badge, **DV quality certified**, means the listing passed every check
    required to go live and every recommended check on its assets. The record's **Quality
    checks** card shows the overall result, calls out any failed checks, and lists every check
    with what it looks for, split into **Required to go live** and **Additional checks**. Scores
    and evidence stay with the vendor. Taskset listings also show a preview of their first
    tasks.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Choose how to buy

| Path | When to use it |
| - | - |
| [Buy a listing](/buy/buy-a-listing) | The listing fits and the price works. |
| [Try a sample](/buy/try-a-sample) | You want to run one task and its environment before buying all of it. HUD taskset listings only. |
| [Bid on a listing](/buy/bid-on-a-listing) | You want to propose a different price. |
| [Post an opportunity](/buy/post-an-opportunity) | Nothing in the catalog fits. |

Not every listing supports every path; the actions a listing offers appear on its record.
