# Buying FAQ

> Answers for buyers on access, evaluating listings, paying, and opportunities.

## Access and evaluating

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I get buyer access?">
    Choose **Buy data** in organization setup and join the waitlist. DataVendor invites buyer
    organizations at a managed pace. See [Become a buyer](/buy/become-a-buyer).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What can I inspect before purchasing?">
    Metadata, delivery details, pricing, quality evidence, taskset previews, and redacted file
    trees: file names are placeholders, folder names are real unless the vendor hid them, and
    contents stay hidden. See
    [Browse and evaluate](/buy/browse-and-evaluate).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the difference between Buy now, samples, and bids?">
    **Buy now** purchases the whole listing at its price. A [sample](/buy/try-a-sample) buys one
    environment and one task that runs on it, chosen by DataVendor, at the listing's sample price;
    only listings that sell both tasksets and environments offer one. A
    [bid](/buy/bid-on-a-listing) proposes a different price for the vendor to accept or reject.
    Not every listing supports every path.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does the vendor know who I am?">
    No. You see which vendor organization published a listing, but the vendor never learns who
    bought, bid, or took a sample. If you post an opportunity, vendors see your organization unless
    you post it anonymously. See
    [How DataVendor works](/overview/how-it-works#buyers-stay-anonymous).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Paying and access

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Who on my team can spend money?">
    Only team admins: Buy now, sample checkout, placing or completing a bid, sending or cancelling
    an invoice, and saving billing details. Other members browse the catalog, read purchase
    history, and download or copy what the team bought, with the spend actions disabled.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How does paying by invoice work?">
    Listings and accepted bids over \$5,000 pay by a net-30 invoice that Stripe emails to your
    billing email. You enter billing details once and they are reused; the PO number is optional.
    Access is granted when the invoice is paid, and you can cancel an unpaid invoice from
    **Purchases**. See [Pay by invoice](/buy/fees-and-payment#pay-by-invoice).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I keep access to a listing after the vendor changes it?">
    Yes. A paid purchase grants an entitlement that survives the vendor editing or unpublishing
    the listing. See [Purchases and access](/buy/purchases-and-access).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Opportunities

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="When should I post an opportunity?">
    When the catalog does not contain the supply you need. See
    [Post an opportunity](/buy/post-an-opportunity).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where are my older project opportunities?">
    Project opportunities, their vendor offers, and any projects are read-only under **Projects**.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>
