# Manage a listing

> Listing stages, visibility, bids, sales, and how to take a listing down.

Every listing moves through the same stages. Lifecycle is separate from
[visibility](/overview/glossary#visibility): a public listing enters the browse catalog when
published, while a private listing is live only for the buyer teams of the opportunities it is
submitted to.

| Stage | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Draft** | Composing. Editable, invisible to buyers. |
| **Checking** | Automated [quality checks](/sell/listings/quality-checks) are running after submit. Locked for edits. |
| **Ready** | Checks cleared; publish with **Go live**. |
| **Needs attention** | A check flagged something to fix. |
| **Active** | Published. Buyers can purchase, sample, or bid. |
| **Archived** | Retired from the marketplace and your workspace. Restorable. |

<Warning>
Editing a submitted listing or refreshing its assets returns it to Draft and voids certification.
Resubmitting re-runs the checks. To edit a live listing, **Edit listing** takes it off the
  catalog first.
</Warning>

Switch a listing between public and private with **Make public on the marketplace** and **Make
private**.

## Respond to bids

Buyers can offer their own price on an Active listing. Open the listing to see the **Bids** card,
which shows each bid's amount and status and how many await a decision. Choose **Accept** or
**Reject**; the buyer is notified either way. You never see who bid.

An accepted bid is not a sale yet: the buyer still has to check out at the bid amount. Bids do not
expire, and each buyer team can hold one open bid per listing. Only team admins can accept or
reject bids.

## Track sales

**Sales** in the sidebar lists every paid sale with its listing, kind (**One-click buy**,
**Sample**, or **Accepted bid**), payment date, and amount, plus your lifetime earnings. Buyers
stay anonymous. Sales settle into your wallet 14 days after payment; see [Get paid](/sell/get-paid).

## Take a listing down

| Action | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Hide from catalog** | Buyers stop finding it in **Browse marketplace**, and you can **Go live** again later. Only available before anyone has bought or sampled it. |
| **Archive listing** | Retires it from the marketplace. Open bids are withdrawn and their buyers notified, and pending purchases are cancelled. Buyers who already paid keep their access. |
| **Restore listing** | Brings an archived listing back. A listing that was live returns hidden, and you choose **Go live** to sell it again. |

There is no delete. Archiving is the way to remove a listing; filter **Listings** by the
**Archived** status to find what you archived.

## Freshness

Linked HUD environments and tasksets track whether they still match their live source. You can
probe a single asset against its source or refresh every snapshot; a refresh returns the listing
to Draft. Repositories do not track freshness; the archive pins the commit it captured.

## Repository copies

When you add a connected repository, DataVendor saves a copy of it at its current commit, and
that copy is what buyers receive. Your listing shows **Copying repository** until the copy is
saved, and the listing can't go live before then. If the copy fails, the listing shows **Copy
failed** with the reason; reconnect the account that owns the repository in
[Connectors](/sell/connect-your-accounts) to try again.

## Next

* [Vendor tiers](/sell/tiers) to unlock buyer requests you can submit listings to.
* [Get paid](/sell/get-paid) for what happens to the money after a sale.
